Corn Earworm Projects

Corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea, damages many crops and currently drives sweet corn pest management decisions. Because it is highly mobile and migratory, has many hosts, and has become resistant to multiple tactics, corn earworm can be very difficult to manage. The Hamby lab is working to improve monitoring and management of this pest in sweet corn production systems as well as collaborating to monitor and understand its resistance to insecticides. For more information about identification and management of this pest, please see resources below.
